John Deere is once again the machinery sponsor for this year’s national Open Farm Sunday event, which takes place on 8 June 2014 with the overall theme ‘Celebrate British Farming and Food’. Last year, more than 200,000 visitors attended an Open Farm Sunday event and this year more than 375 farms will be opening their gates on the day.
Open Farm Sunday has become the single most effective and well supported day in the farming calendar, and is very much the farming industry’s annual open day – a celebration of all that is best about British farming and food, and a great opportunity to get the public out onto farms to discover where their food comes from, meet the farmers who produce it and find out how they care for the environment.
LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), the organisers of Open Farm Sunday, provide lots of information, free resources and support to help host farmers put on a safe, engaging and enjoyable event. John Deere contributes to this effort by producing 25,000 information leaflets for visitors to take home, with content for both adults and children, highlighting John Deere technology and featuring some useful industry facts.
In addition, many dealers and John Deere staff support individual events with the loan of machinery for tractor rides or static display, or by helping host farmers and talking to visitors about John Deere’s advanced technology and its role in helping farmers to produce quality food for home and abroad.
Further details of this year’s event are available on the Open Farm Sunday website at www.farmsunday.org or you can follow @OpenFarmSunday on Twitter (#OFS).
