QA5 REEL

John Deere reels hold the edge longer and have better impact resistance. Here’s why: our blade material is an AISI Chrome Alloy steel cold-rolled, formed and welded robotically into the reel assembly. And our specifications for edge retention and “hardenability” are superior to those of regular mill run steels using induction heat treatment hardening. (Lower quality steel’s lack of uniform hardness reduces the effectiveness of heat treating and results in more frequent grinding to maintain a sharp edge).

7 Blade Reel*

Normally used for mowing Fairways, Tees, Collars and approaches with Higher Highs of cuts.
Typically used for HOC above 12.7 mm (0.500 inches)
Can be ordered on any QA5 reel cutting unit or on the 260SL Walk Behind greens Mower.
Widths in 18 and 22 inch

11 Blade Reel*

Normally used for mowing Greens and Fairways at Lower Highs of cuts.
Typically used for HOC below 12.7 mm (0.500 inches)
Most common reel blade ordered on the QA5 reel cutting unit.

14 Blade Reel*

At John Deere, we’re committed to providing hardworking, long-lasting parts for your operation. That’s why we created our 14 Blade Reel, which lowers your frequency of clip, producing a smooth, clean cut and increasing the playability of the putting surface. It’s available for installation on QA5 cutting units and 180SL/220SL PrecisionCut Walk Greens Mowers.

Used on Greens to increase playability of the putting surface and green speeds at very low heights of cut.
Used for HOC below 12.7 mm (0.500 inches)
Capable of providing FOC ( Frequency of Clip) of 3.12 mm (0.123 in) on SL Walk Greens Mowers equipped with Frequency Speed-Up kit. 18 mm (0.125 in) on E-Cut Walk Greens Mowers and 0.54 mm (0.034 in per 1 mph) on the Riding Greens Mowers.

Typically used for HOC above 15.9 mm (0.625 inches)
Can be ordered as a option on the 7200A and 2653B Trim and Surround mowers
Widths in 26 and 30 inch

8 Blade Reel*

Normally used for Tees, Approaches, Intermediate Rough and Fairways with Higher Heights of cuts.
Typically used for HOC between 9.5 mm to 15.9 mm (0.375 to 0.625 inches)
Can be ordered as a option on the 7700A, 8700A Fairway Mowers, 7200A and 2653B Trim and Surround mowers
Widths in 22, 26 and 30 inch

10 Blade Reel*

Normally used for Fairways
Developed for HOC between 6.3 mm to 12 mm (0.248 to 0.472 inches)

7700A & 8700A Fairway Mowers
Widths in 22 and 26 inch

Verticutter

Many hybrid turfgrasses require aggressive maintenance practices to stimulate new lateral and vertical growth for a true and healthy playing surface. Frequent, light verticutting is an integral part of properly maintaining these cultivars, as well as some of the more traditional turf types.

QA5 Verticutter*

The Quick-Adjust 5 (QA5) verticutters for the 2500B PrecisionCut Riding Greens Mowers, 2500E E-Cut™ Hybrid Riding Greens Mowers and PrecisionCut Fairway Mowers make verticutting easy thanks to their quick adjustments and durable verticutter blades. The 5-in. (12.7-cm) blades use a sawtooth design for efficient, consistent cutting, and come with a highly durable carbide tip. The blades have a standard spacing of 3/4 in. (19 mm), a total of 27 blades per cutting unit, and should always be run in the forward direction.

QA7 Verticutter*

Just like our QA5 verticutter, the Quick-Adjust 7 (QA7) for the 7700 and 8700 PrecisionCut Fairway Mowers have heavy-duty verticutter blades and quick adjustment options. The 7-in. (17.8-cm) blades are designed for effective, uniform cutting, and come standard with a long-lasting carbide tip.
