Xenoy is a trademark of SABIC Innovative Plastics.
The tractor is powered by a John Deere iTorque™ power system, a combination of engine features and an exclusive hood design providing superior lugging ability, even cooling, and durability. Key engine features include:
Electronic fuel injection (EFI)
Constant-speed governor
No choke control is needed for the EFI engine because a servo motor controls the intake air butterfly valve and the air stream. For cold starts the actuator will close the valve, making starting the engine easier - no choke lever is needed. Starts are quick and easy - even for inexperienced operators.
The advanced engine features provide the following advantages:
Performance is improved.
Uptime is increased.
Cost of ownership is reduced.
The X590 Tractor, including the engine, is covered by a 4-year/500-hour bumper-to-bumper warranty*.
A flywheel alternator provides plenty of capacity to quickly recharge the battery and power electrical equipment, such as lights or a sprayer:
*Term limited to years or hours used, whichever comes first, and varies by model. See the LIMITED WARRANTY FOR NEW JOHN DEERE TURF AND UTILITY EQUIPMENT at JohnDeere.com or JohnDeere.ca/TUWarranty for details.
The 122-cm (48-in.) Accel Deep Mower Deck is a stamped-steel, deep, flat-top design that delivers excellent cut quality, productivity, cleanliness, durability, and versatility. Optimal performance and dispersion of clippings is provided, even at faster mowing speeds:
Deep mower-deck stamping gives excellent cut quality. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck without getting recut:
Deep mower-deck stamping gives high productivity which gets the job done fast. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck quickly, reducing the amount of re-cutting so more power is available to process incoming grass:
Large discharge opening is both high and wide to handle more material:
MulchControl is an innovative, simple design that is easy to use and maintain:
The flat-top shape of the deck stamping is optimal for keeping itself and the operator clean:
Cleaning a mower deck, both top and bottom, is one of the most frequent maintenance activities:
A wash port is provided to make cleaning the underside of the mower deck easy.
The 48A Mower Deck has strong spindle pockets, to keep the blades perfectly aligned, even after years of tough service:
Low-tension belt-drive design reduces the side load on engine lower bearings and mower deck bearings for longer life.
The 48A Mower Deck features a 16-mm (5/8-in.) diameter solid-steel rod side bumper that provides extra strength and protection.
Dual-stage E-coat and powder-paint coatings provide extra protection from rust.
The 48A Mower is designed for maximum versatility, providing the greatest ease in changing from one mower discharge mode to another:
The MulchControl attachment for the 48A Mower Deck makes mulching more practical for many mowing situations because it not only does an excellent job of mulching but it also allows the mower to be easily converted for times when it is more desirable to side discharge or collect the lawn material. Advantages of mulching grass clippings include:
MulchControl is well-suited to the following mowing situations:
MulchControl puts the operator in control of the clippings. Now the operator can have all the benefits of mulching with the ability to easily change to side discharge or bagging when needed.
While in the side-discharge mode, MulchControl will still mulch about one third of the material. Therefore, the side-discharge mode is essentially a partial-mulch mode. This can be an advantage when side discharging or bagging, as it helps to reduce the amount of material being discharged. Other times this could work as a disadvantage:
The 48A Power Flow blower is easy to install and easy to clean, as it pivots out from the mower for easy access.
Hydraulic power steering is standard equipment:
The frame is made of heavy-duty, formed steel, reinforced in critical areas and welded for even greater strength:
A mower deck must be level side to side and properly adjusted front to rear to give the best cutting performance. A removable, onboard deck-leveling gauge and a hex-key tool are provided to make adjustment easy:
The Exact Adjust feature is standard on all Select Series™ X300 and X500 Tractors:
Consult the operator's manual for the correct adjusting procedures for each tractor model. Basic adjusting steps to properly level the mower deck include:
NOTE: The adjusting tool supplied with the tractor is an 8-mm (0.31-in.) ball-hex key, part number M162737. The rounded end allows for some misalignment with the bolt as the deck is adjusted.
The 137-cm (54-in.) Accel Deep Mower Deck is a stamped-steel, deep, flat-top design that delivers excellent cut quality, productivity, cleanliness, durability, and versatility. Optimal performance and dispersion of clippings is provided, even at faster mowing speeds:

This durable blade serves as a perfect solution for snow removal and other materials.
It is very easy to mount on the tractor which facilitates all year-round usage through the different seasons. To use it, the operator simply pushes a lever from the seat and the blade lowers to the ground. When the task is complete, pulling back the lever will raise it.
The working angle can be changed with a lever from the tractor. This will be especially appreciated in tighter areas when frequently changing direction between left and right.
The blade is wider than the tractor to ensure the tractor has good traction on the cleared path and does not compact snow. Even with an angled blade, the operator can clean up to the edge of walls and other obstacles for best results.
Demonstration of the unique safety joint: the tractor is slowed down after the impact yet can move enough to reduce the shock on the operator. The blade moves away from the obstacle by moving up.
Function of a traditional blade (upper line) and the unique safety joint (lower line). [1] = pivot point, [2] = hard obstacle, [3] = snow
Many front blades available in the market tilt around a pivoting point close to the ground (see 1.1). When potentially contacting an obstacle (see 1.2), the pivoting blade can barely move at all, increasing impact on the blade, tractor, and operator even more (1.3).
The unique joint solution of this blade is smarter by pivoting around a higher spot (2.1). It avoids a harsh impact as the colliding blade edge moves clearly to the rear (2.2), allowing the tractor to slow down more smoothly. Also, the blade will move up if too much snow is present – and even continues to clear off the snow. Once the hard object is overcome, the spring pushes the blade back to the original position. This all results in more comfort of the operator, better uptime of the blade and tractor together with cost effective snow removal without backing up and rehitting the obstacle attempting to clear snow on it.
To attach the blade to the tractor, simply raise it from ground; hook it into the quick-hitch and lock it. Although it can stay on, taking the mower deck off and using rear wheel weights on the tractor is recommended. For snow applications, snow chains are suggested. Both the weights and the chains are available through John Deere Parts.
A John Deere dealer can identify which models are compatible with this broom and order the required mounting hardware.
The following chart shows the available options for John Deere Riding Lawn Equipment and suggests which solution might be the best in each case. The entire description above applies to the blade with 125-cm (49-in.) quick-hitch. If the tractor is equipped with driveline and corresponding quick-hitch, a tractor with this quick-hitch can carry either the blade or the 120-cm (47-in.) broom.

NOTE: The photo above shows the earlier AM136691 winter grille cover on a pre-2014 X300 Tractor. AM145350 winter grille cover replaces AM136691. It is similar in appearance and designed for use with the earlier hoods as well as the 2014 and later hoods used on X300 Series Tractors (SN 280,001-) with the newer styling.
Winter grille covers are available as an accessory for Select Series™ X300 and air-cooled X500 Multi-
Terrain Tractors:
*The winter grille cover is recommended only for air-cooled tractors; use of the winter grille cover on a
liquid-cooled tractor may cause the engine to overheat, which will cause the power take-off (PTO) to disengage.
NOTE: To avoid engine damage, the winter grille cover must be removed when outside temperature reaches 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) or higher.
The purpose of the winter grille cover is to seal the side vents on the hood; they need to be blocked completely. The cover must be aligned properly to accomplish this. If the sides are not sealed, carburetor icing may still be a problem.
Symptoms of carburetor icing:
The brush guard adds a distinctive appearance to the tractor and protects the front of the tractor from damage.
By removing one spring clip and pin, the brush guard may be lowered to permit opening the hood.
