Properly adjust your gauge wheels
The gauge wheels on your mower deck are there to prevent scalping grass on uneven terrain so that you achieve that beautifully uniform cut you’re after.
Mower deck gauge wheels need to be properly adjusted to prevent scalping grass on uneven terrain. The bottom of the wheels should sit approximately 1/8-1/2 of an inch (3mm – 13mm) from the ground, depending on your cutting height.
