Excellent view and Rapeseed Capability
Swept back rear panels and the open reel design provide an unobstructed view across the full width. You can see the crop as it’s cut, laid and enters the feederhouse, so you can push your combine to the limit of its capacity without overloading.
For harvesting rapeseed the header is available with a large, 460mm top conveying auger, a centre section sealing kit and backsheet extensions. Mechanical rapeseed knives can also be fitted.

Overview
Draper belt technology with head-first feeding
High-capacity combines require a durable, high-capacity draper. The draper belt technology of the RDF HydraFlex™ Draper Platform provides a smooth material flow from the header via the feeder house into the combine. This draper belt design increases the performance of John Deere combines. With the draper belt technology, the operator can start earlier and finish later in the day.
In addition, the RDF Platforms have a flexible cutterbar designed to flex to minor undulations of the ground. In such undulations, it enables the knife to cut low across the width of the header to save more grain when harvesting crops such as soybeans and peas that pod low to the ground.
- Harvest more hours a day – Crop that falls onto the draper belts is uniformly and consistently conveyed to the center section, unaffected by air or crop This allows for earlier and later starts of any harvesting day.
- Harvest more tonnes per hour – Increase the harvest capacity of the combine; the crop mat is fed into the combine head first for a smoother threshing and separation performance, better grain quality, and a positive loss performance.
- Flexible cutterbar flexes to minor ground undulations – Cut down crop or crops that pod close to the ground at high capacity with the ground following and flexible knife capabilities of the RDF Platform. Designed for minor to moderate ground undulations, the knife stays close to the ground across the width of the rigid header frame, saving more crop while maintaining high productivity.
- In-cab settings help you spend more time harvesting – Swap between on- and off ground cutting directly from the cab. In-cab cutterbar float pressure adjustment saves time during the day as ground conditions change compared to out-of-cab adjustments.
- Enable faster harvesting speeds – With the John Deere industry-exclusive 2-cm (4-in.) double-cut knife system, you can increase your harvesting speeds.
Draper belt feeding characteristics and the double-cut knife system enable you to harvest more hours in the day (earlier and later) and maximize the combine’s capacity. Tests have shown that a higher combine capacity up to 25 percent with the same loss level can be reached.

HydraFlex draper system floats with the terrain
HydraFlex technology is a high-performing hydraulic float control system that enables high productivity while cutting on the ground. With this technology, low growing crops like beans and peas can be easily harvested without missing crop under the cutterbar.
- Optimize your ground following on the go – Float closely to the ground over changing conditions by controlling the cutterbar ground pressure from the cab. Simply adjust the ground pressure by increasing the hydraulic pressure in the cutterbar float arms with a rotary dial on the armrest in the cab.
- Flexibility throughout the entire working width – The hydraulic float system features a 5-in. (19-cm) float range.
- On-ground and off-ground cutting – For off-ground cutting, the operator simply increases the pressure in the cutterbar float arms to lock the HydraFlex draper into rigid mode. For on-ground cutting, the operator lowers the pressure so the cutterbar and flex to the contours of the ground.
- Easy design – Cutterbar float arms with hydraulic cylinders enable exceptional cutterbar flexibility plus support to the cutterbar and draper belts for increased productivity.

Optimize your settings for changing conditions
Put grain in the tank faster with the two-speed center feed section. Between different crops and conditions, the center section of the draper is a key element for a smooth transition into the combine feeder house. With the two-speed center feed section, the speed can be changed to smooth crop flow between high-volume or low-volume crops.
- Gentle handling of beans and peas – A slow-speed setting at the center softens the impact of crop fingers and drum flighting when engaging with crop. This ensures that easy-shelling crops like lentils and soybeans do not get thrown over the feeder house.
- Small grain optimized feeding – Use the high-speed setting in oilseed rape or high-yielding for fast and smooth feeding for high harvesting capacity.
- More time spent harvesting – Shift between slow and high speed within seconds using the gearbox shift lever. Experience less stopping during harvest related to unplugging the header, which allows for more harvesting time at the highest productivity levels.
Higher feed drum torque is matched to the capacity of the combine to ensure optimal feed rates. Higher torque on the front feed drum allows operators to confidently harvest tough feeding, high-volume crops.

- Adapt fast to changing conditions – Optimize your settings on the go directly from the cab and with no need to leave the cab.
- On-ground and off-ground cutting – Convert from off-ground cutting to on-ground cutting directly from the cab by changing the pressure of the cutterbar.
- Match ground conditions – Ensure ground conditions do not make operators come to a halt with the ability to quickly adjust the cutterbar float pressure. Infinite float pressure settings from the cab let operators adjust the draper to follow fields.
- Reduced belt speed mode – This mode can be turned on and off in the draper belt speed screen of the header This feature reduces side belt speeds to improve feeding when harvesting with half the header.
- Auto belt speed mode – Draper belts automatically adjust relative to ground speed to maintain consistent crop flow and combine performance as combine harvesting speed.
- Belt protection system option – As operators take advantage of the longer harvest windows provided by John Deere drapers and combines, the belt protection system helps automate harvest by monitoring belts throughout the day as operators experience.
