The automatic-control, programmable header functions provide optimum performance and operator ease and comfort.
Up to 7.6 m (25 ft), the 600X Platform is equipped with four HeaderTrak™ sensors that follow the contour to ensure an even stubble height and minimize the risk of damaging the header in uneven terrain.
The 630X 9.15 m (30 ft) to 640X 12.1-m (40-ft) headers come with six HeaderTrak sensors. Two additional sensors to provide highest cutting quality and maximum field performance by large header sizes. HeaderTrak sensors are evenly positioned close to the knife in the table and therefore moved together with the knife. This position allows best reactivity in rolling terrain.
Heavy-duty epicyclic knife-drive gearbox provides an enhanced knife-drive system that increases drive capacity with less vibration and improved reliability.
A simple, convenient single-lever multicoupler on the left-hand side of the feederhouse allows the operator to connect all hydraulic and electrical header functions, and engages the latch pins in one easy step. The single-lever multicoupler saves time when moving from field to road and vice versa.
Another feature of the 600X Series Headers is the quick adjustability of the auger in two directions - depth and height.
This quick adjustment allows the operator to optimize the header for any crop and condition (set the auger up for harvesting rapeseed) for smoothest feeding and an optimal match for the high performance of the John Deere combines. This needs to be done manually on left- and right-hand side of the cutting platform.
The heavy-duty driveline for the auger and cutterbar on the left-hand side of the cutting platform is designed for the biggest throughput and best efficiency.
The knife drive gearbox is driven by a driveshaft; the intake auger is driven by a strong chain and a slip clutch to protect the auger and driveline in case of crop plugging.

The single telescopic drive shaft on the left-hand side of the platform keeps platform hookup easy and fast. The platform knife and auger are driven from a single drive shaft, which connects to a splined feederhouse drive shaft. The single telescopic drive shaft is standard configuration from 6.7 m (22 ft) up to 12.1 m (40 ft).
From 6.7 m (22 ft) up to 9.1 m (30 ft) there is a single-side knife drive which is located on the left-hand side and is driven by a telescopic driveshaft. On 10.7-m (35-ft) and 12.1-m (40-ft) models there is a dual-side knife drive which is also based on telescopic driveshaft and allows the synchronized operation of two cutting knives.
On all models, the drive system is protected by a heavy-duty slip clutch which is linked to the main drive pulley.
A storage bracket holds the coupler when the platform is not in use and provides clean and reliable hydraulic and electrical connections.

All 600X Series Cutting Platforms feature a large, 660-mm (26-in.) auger tube with deep auger flights to handle large amounts of crop. This design provides a very big area under the auger to aggressively feed large volumes of crop material.
All augers are equipped with retractable auger fingers over the full width of the auger. Auger fingers are designed for quick replacement and mounted with a finger retainer. Auger finger retainers prevent broken fingers from being moved into the combine, minimizing the potential damage caused by rock sand or other obstructions.

Up to 9.15 m (30-ft), this auger will stay as one single auger for the current 600R Platform. For the 10.70-m (35-ft) and 12.1-m (40-ft) platforms, a central auger bearing will be used to allow harvesting in high-yielding conditions with maximum feeding capacity.
In addition to the conventional auger configuration, it is possible to choose a wear-resistant auger, which is recommended for harvesting rice. Therefore, the auger flights are reinforced to grant maximum wear life. Future availability.
