Precision spraying technology - Tips and Tricks

“Hi I’m Stijn. I work at our factory in the Netherlands and am often asked by customers how they can get the most from the advanced technology on our sprayers. I’ve put together this webpage to share my knowledge of spraying technology. You can search by individual technology, or there’s a drop down menu with a list of common challenges customers ask me about.”

“I just had the pleasure of running a customer demo of our latest technology. The sprayer was equipped with 25 cm nozzle spacing. It meant we could get the boom lower, which reduced drift and still gave good coverage.”

“Many of you might still be applying fertiliser, but now it’s time to apply herbicide on fresh new weeds to give your wheat the best possible start. TwinSelect enables in-cab nozzle switching so you can change from liquid fertilizer nozzles to spray nozzles on the go."

“Year after year I meet more and more customers using prescription maps for their fertiliser application. Having the TwinSelect option makes variable rate application a lot easier as the sprayer automatically selects the right nozzle to supply the correct dosage defined by the map. It saves you having to constantly adjust the tractor’s speed.”

“I was in Denmark last month and I met a customer using spot spraying maps for his wheat herbicide application for the first time. Watching from the cab he could see individual nozzles being turned on and off based on the application map data. The first results look encouraging. He didn’t miss any weeds and significantly reduced the amount of herbicide.

“Want to get your early seeded wheat off to a good start? For early seeded crops a herbicide application in the very early stages of growth helps most of the time. Here, the challenge is to minimise under or over-dosing and that’s where individual nozzle control has proven really useful. It allows you to switch each nozzle on and off which saves herbicide and prevents over-dosing.”
