John Deere's innovative hybrid technology for golf course and amenity turf maintenance was featured on three different machines on the company’s stand at the BTME/Harrogate Week event.

The John Deere E-Cut hybrid machines include the new 220e walk-behind greens mower, 2500e triplex greens mower and 8000e three-wheeled, ultra-light fairway mower, all fitted with the award winning Quick Adjust cutting units, featuring the unique Speed Link system for extremely quick height of cut adjustment.

First introduced in 2005, the 2500e was the golf and turf industry’s first hybrid greens mower, combining conventional diesel power with electric motors to produce a quieter, more environmentally friendly machine. This advanced technology eliminates 102 potential hydraulic leak points, without sacrificing overall reliability, power or cut quality.

The new 220e and 8000e mowers for 2010 both feature similar hybrid electric drive technology. The 220e’s design reduces weight on the cutting head and allows it to follow ground contours even more closely, as only an electric cable is required to transmit power to the cutting head. On-board backlapping is another standard feature that makes servicing the cutting unit simple and convenient.

The 8000e combines low noise and engine emission levels with reduced fuel consumption, and this machine’s lower ground pressure and three-wheel configuration leave a minimal ‘footprint’. This makes the 8000e a more productive alternative to hand mowing larger areas of fine turf, for example.
